Cape Fear Men's Club
The second paddle of the season will be on 22 April at 10am. We're headed to the Black River! We will launch at Hunts Bluff Wildlife Boat Ramp (351 Hunts Bluff Road, Kelly, NC) and paddle a beautiful, mostly wild stretch of the Black River. Enjoy lush cypress swamps and catch a glimpse of the wildlife in action. After an easy 4-5 mile paddle, we will take out near Point Caswell on Estate Road (201 Estate Road, Atkinson, NC) which is in a private community we have arranged. Since take-out and launch are at different locations we will have a short shuttle for this paddle. Please gather at the Hunts Bluff Wildlife Boat Ramp NLT 9:30 AM to enable the shuttle and return for a 10:00 AM launch. Lunch will be at Johnson's Corner Grill on the corner of 210 and 421 (GPS: 9031 Us Highway 421 Currie, NC). This is a very interesting place with good deli sandwiches. Friends and family are invited but they will need to sign the Hold Harmless Form that I will have at the paddle. All paddlers should wear a PFD. Other recommended items to remember include sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water and water shoes.
